Ewan Mcgregor’s return
as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars 9
A recent report reveals that Ewan McGregor is about to get back on Star Wars’ board to play the part of Obi-Wan Kenobi. For a couple of years, it has been speculated that it would be the topic of his own movie.
However, most likely it has been put aside for a time being in favor of the upcoming Episode IX.
As The Sun states that MacGregor is going to participate in scene shooting with Star Wars’ 9 director J. J. Abrams, while working on his own movie.
No feedback has been given on how significant McGregor’s role will be, yet it is possible to assume that it doesn’t make any sense to think it is going to be big – most likely, it will be something like an insignificant part as a Force ghost, quite similar to Kenobi’s previous appearances in Star Wars movies Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
Taking into account the fact that this unproven report is nothing more than a rumor, Star Wars Saga fans are strongly advised to consider this all with maximum cautiousness.
Of course, Obi-Wan’s persona is a fundamental component of Skywalker Saga, having been both Anakin’s and Luke’s mentor and spiritual guide at different periods in his life.
It might be a bit weird to witness his reappearance in Episode IX though. Just like Master Yoda (whose appearance in Star Wars IX is considered to be quite plausible), Obi-Wan Kenobi, at the first glance, has no visible and sensible connection to Rey, the main Force-abusing character.
It would make a lot of sense if the ninth episode features a Force ghost, Luke most sensibly, who trained Rey back in The Last Jedi. The reunion scene between the teacher and the student, Obi-Wan and Luke, would be heartbreaking and sensational – something we were looking forward to in the 8-th Episode.
“Ghostly reunion of the Force” is further rumored to include a “flesh-made” character – Lando Calrissian. Star Wars fans, who are strongly dedicated to Lando, should consider the fact that 81-year old actor is currently in the process of intense training, most likely to get into the shape before the role.
It might as well be just another looking after his personal health, but the production of the Episode IX is about to start in July, making it more and more plausible that Lando is getting back on board.
